Warren "Pete" Hollopeter, 73, Independence, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Mr. Hollopeter was born Oct. 30, 1924, in Pratt, Kan. He was retired from the Vendo Corp. He was an army veteran of World War II, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1000 in Independence and American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 3717, Independence, and Moose Lodge 10, Sugar Creek, where he held a merit degree of Pilgrim. He was preceded in death by a son, Garlin Hollopeter in 1986. His survivors include his wife, Betty L. Hollopeter, of the home; a son, Michael Hollopeter, Missouri City, TX; three daughters, Chleora Berquist, Portland, OR, Shirley Hayles, Las Vegas, NV, and Kristy Eller, Colorado Springs, CO; a stepson, Gary Wyatt, Independence; two sisters, Dorothy McGillivary, Ulysses, KS, and June Schelhouse, Alburquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
